Janet Wheatman – Newbie to the Artist Mainstream
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Janet falls from the Feret artist tree. Her dad Stanley Feret was a successful artist, member of Pallet and Chisel, and attended numerous art fairs during his lifetime.
Her cousin Bill Feret was a successful artist in New York as well.
That’s where her interest began- watching her dad paint & sketch, helping him set-up at the fairs ,and just enjoying being part of the ‘art scene’.
Within this decade, Janet has taken lessons at Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich and Kaleidoscope Art School in Barrington. She is a newbie to the exhibit world, and has recently sold one of her paintings at the Crabtree Center in Barrington. She also displayed one of her tree oil paintings at the Elk Grove Village Library Exhibit.
It’s not a surprise that her current career utilizes Photoshop and other design programs. She works in the Digital Assets /Visual Content Department and enjoys the variety of creative challenges.
She is always thriving to improve and has recently begun taking workshops in Plein Air. She began painting with acrylics but graduated to oils and pastels. Her love of nature and the outdoors show in her work, as she prefers to capture landscapes and animals on canvas. The Lord is her strength and inspiration. Her persistence and talent originates from Him. Painting is like therapy and allows her to feel close to her dad.
When asked, her greatest joy is when she can create something for her friends, and to see their expression when she gives them a framed original ‘Wheatman”.
