Lori has a fine arts degree in painting and design from Adelphi
University in New York. She also studied drawing and Illustration at the Art Students League, and the Parsons School of Design in New York.
After 11 years in Advertising in New York, Lori moved to Connecticut and studied for two years with artist Charles Sovek at the Rowayton Art Center where she refined her used of light and color in her paintings. She has applied these new techniques to both still life and portraits since 1984.
Over the past 16 years, Lori has taught drawing and painting in various mediums to both adults and kids at the Positive Strokes Art School and Gallery, Palatine, IL, Adlai Stevenson High School PREP Program, Lincolnshire, IL, The Adler Center, Libertyville, IL and private students.
Last year, Lori literally “took a step outside the box” of the studio and began Plein Air Painting. ” I am thoroughly enjoying this challenging new approach to oil painting that takes me to new places and a new way of honing a loser, more painterly style”.
This year, Lori is experimenting with acrylic – a medium that she used in college and for decorative painting. “I want to take my studio painting to a new level in acrylic. My challenge is to use less strokes and use vivid color to create tonal value in a variety of subjects. I am finding that learning to make the most of the versatility acrylics seem to offer. My creative juices are running wild with ideas of how to put a modern, spontaneous twist to my representational paintings”.
Lori also accepts commissions for Pet Portraits.
A new website and blog are currently “under construction”.
