Through painting, I try to capture a realistic still event as I see it. Even though it’s still, there is so much happening with shade and light hitting the objects or someone’s face. It’s those fascinating colors and shapes I want to try to pull out and present. If I’m painting a model in front of me, then it’s almost their being that I want to show too. What I can visually grasp and paint as it actually is presented in nature, without over arranging, is what makes the process exciting and challenging to me.
I received my undergrad from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and graduate degree at Stony Brook University in New York. I live in Cary, IL.
