Sandra was born and raised in Wisconsin, and was strongly influenced by the beautiful rural culture of the Midwest. She has always had a love of art, from grade school through high school, but did not have any formal training until moving to Forest Lake. At that time, she discovered the Studio in the Woods and began taking classes with Bonnie Anderson. When the Studio closed she enrolled at the Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich with instruction by Frankie Johnson. She continues to attend and enjoy the instruction and support she receives at Mainstreet.
Sandra has been painting for over 30 years in oils, pastels and has ventured into watercolors at the Ela Senior Center under the direction of Joyce Klug. Sandra assumed leadership of the watercolor group a few years ago. However, she still prefers the oil painting experience.
Sandra is a member of the Barrington Cultural Art Center, the Long Grove Artists Guild and the Lake County Art League. Her work is currently on exhibit in the BCAC Gallery at the Ice House Mall, Barrington, IL.
Her paintings are in many private collections throughout the country. She has done many portraits in pastels for family, friends and co-workers.
